Thank you for choosing Unreel Fly Fishing. I am looking forward to getting on the water with you for some tenkara fishing here in beautiful western North Carolina. Below is some info that should help ensure we have a safe and fun outing:
PLAN OF THE DAY If we are on a half-day trip expect not less than 4 hours plus drive time. For a full day that will be not less than 8 hours plus drive time. Add about 90 minutes of total driving time to that. So if we meet up at 6:30 am for a full-day trip, you’ll probably be back at 4:00- 4:30 pm. Of course, I’m happy to adjust that if you need.
MEET UP Conditions are changeable and will dictate where we go to fish. Normally a day or so before, we will finalize meet-up arrangements. If you’re staying in Asheville, I can usually just pick you up at your lodging.
FISHING LICENSE You will need to carry a North Carolina fishing license valid for the day(s) we fish. For NC residents an “Inland ” license which is good for a year. For out of state anglers you will need a Non-Resident Inland License (10 day or 1 yr). You can get them in just about any place in NC that sells fishing tackle or online through the link on my homepage.
FISHING GEAR I provide rods, lines, flies and any other fishing gear we’ll need. Of course, you are welcome to bring your own if you’d like. If you’re thinking about buying a tenkara rod, I suggest you wait until you have a chance to try some out. I can provide wading boots and waders as needed but some folks prefer their own. Just let me know your preference/sizes.
DRESS FOR SUCCESS Check the weather forecast and wear or bring what you’ll need to stay comfortable in the elements for as long as we’ll be fishing. Quick dry, outdoor type clothes are always best. A hat, long pants, hiking or athletic type socks and polarized sunglasses are always appropriate. For jackets etc, plan on it being a little cooler than the Asheville city forecast and if there is a chance of rain, be ready for it. If we are doing a hike-in trip, a small backpack is helpful. (Some folks also prefer to bring their own water bottle.)
MEDICAL CONSIDERATIONS If you need special medications like an Epipen, asthma inhaler, glucose tablets etc. please make sure to bring them with you. If you have any mobility restrictions or other medical considerations that you think I should know about, letting me know in advance will help me make sure we plan a day that will be fun and safe for all.
FOOD AND DRINK On half-day trips I provide drinks and snacks for the morning (including coffee or tea). For a full-day trip I also provide lunch. Please let me know if you have any food allergies or other dietary restrictions.
PAYMENT You are welcome to pay me at the end of our outing by cash, check, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay, Android Pay or Venmo.
LIABILITY RELEASE My insurance provider requires that all clients sign a standard Liability Release form. I can provide you with a copy in advance upon request or you can sign one when I pick you up. If you choose not to do this, I cannot take you fishing.
CANCELLATION POLICY I make reservations based on good faith and require no advance payment. I understand that family and work emergencies come up, people get sick and sometimes the weather I would enjoy fishing in would be no fun for others. I only want to take you fishing because you’d like to go fishing, not because you don’t want to lose a deposit. If you have a problem, let me know. Of course, it helps me if we can reschedule instead of just cancelling.
QUESTIONS? Feel free to call or text me if you have any questions, concerns or special needs.
